Iona Knocks Off Wake Forest 94-68 at Paradise Jam

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands - Iona made its first nine shots and raced out to a 22-3 lead seven minutes into the game, as the Gaels knocked off Wake Forest 94-68 at the Paradise Jam on Saturday evening at the UVI Sports and Fitness Center on the island of St. Thomas.

Wake Forest (1-2) struggled out of the gate and could not withstand the hot shooting of Iona (2-1), as the Gaels steadily built their lead to as much as 37 (48-11) in the first half. The Deacons trailed 54-24 at the half.

Madison Jones, who made his first career start, led the Deacons with 10 points, three steals and two assists. Travis McKie had 13 points and seven rebounds, and C.J. Harris added 10 points.

Devin Thomas finished with nine points and seven rebounds, while Chase Fischer turned in five points and a team-best three assists. Arnaud William Adala Moto scored seven points and had two assists.

Sean Armand led Iona with 28 points, and Lamont Jones added 22.

The Gaels shot 52.2 percent (35-of-67) from the field, including 14-for-28 from 3-point range.

The Deacons will wrap up play at the Paradise Jam on Monday, Nov. 19. Wake Forest will take on Mercer in the seventh-place game at 2:30 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed for free online at and can also be heard on the Wake Forest IMG College Radio Network.
