Wake Forest Cruises to 82-53 Victory Over Richmond

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest men's basketball cruised to an 82-53 victory over Richmond Saturday afternoon at the LJVM Coliseum.

The Demon Deacons (4-4), who never trailed, defeated the Spiders (1-7) by 29 points, their largest margin of victory since defeating NC State by 30 last season. Keyshawn Woods led all scorers with 17 points while Doral Moore and Bryant Crawford finished with 15 each. Mitchell Wilbekin rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points.

Donovan Mitchell finished with nine points, just one point shy of matching his career high, while Melo Eggleston finished with a career-high six points.

The Deacons used an 8-0 run to build a solid lead early in the first half. Steady shooting from the home team allowed the Deacs to gain a 14-point lead with under eight minutes to go and eventually bring an 11-point lead into halftime at 40-29. The Deacons shot 52 percent from the floor in the first half while Moore had 13 points in the opening frame on 6-for-6 shooting from the field. He also recorded six boards and three blocks, and would finish Saturday's contest with a career-high four blocks.

After the break, the Deacs used an 11-0 run to extend their lead to 22 at 51-29. Wake Forest continued to dominate, shooting 57 percent from the field on their way to their largest lead of the season at 30. From there, the Deacs easily took the 82-53 victory.

Saturday's meeting between the Demon Deacons and Spiders was the 10th consecutive matchup between the schools, the longest annual nonconference series for the Deacons since playing Virginia Tech from 1961-78. In the past three matchups, the road team has won until tonight with the Deacon's victory.

Up next, the Demon Deacons will play their first true road game of the season when they travel to Charlotte on Dec. 5. Tip is set for 7 p.m.

-Wake Forest is 3-1 this season when starting Doral Moore, Mitchell Wilbekin, Bryant Crawford, Terrence Thompson and Chaundee Brown.

-With his 6-for-7 performance tonight, Doral Moore is shooting 23-for-25 from the field in his past five games for a shooting percentage of 92 percent.
-Moore is 38-for-45 (84.4 percent) from the field on the season.
-Moore set the program record for consecutive made field goals at 16-for-16 before missing one against Illinois.

-Bryant Crawford finished with 15 points to extend his streak of double-figure games to 33.
-Keyshawn Woods totaled a game-high 17 points for his sixth double-digit game of the season. Woods has now led the Deacons in points three times this season.
-Doral Moore recorded 15 points for his third-straight double-digit effort and fifth of the season. Five of his eight career double-digit point totals have come this year.

-Senior Troy Rike checked in with 4:30 remaining in the contest. Rike played in five games last season for the Deacons.
-Senior Anthony Bilas, redshirt junior Britton Anderson and junior Aaron Spivey all checked in with just under a minute left in the game.
