Vote for Devin For the Capital One Impact Performance of the Week

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest freshman forward Devin Thomas has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week after averaging 16.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 56.5 percent from the field in Wake Forest's two games last week.

On Tuesday, Thomas led the Deacons to an 86-84 upset of No. 18-ranked NC State. Thomas finished the night with 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting, 14 rebounds, four assists, four blocks, and three steals, leading the team in all of those categories. Thomas pulled down nine offensive rebounds, which is tied for the third-highest single-game total in school history.

According to ESPN Stats and Research, Thomas is one of just four players to post such a line in Division I over the last 15 seasons, joining Jason Thompson (Rider), Michael Sweetney (Georgetown), and Joel Przybilla (Minnesota).

In Saturday's loss at Georgia Tech, Thomas came up just short of his second straight double-double. He finished the afternoon with eight points and a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with a season-high five blocks and a steal on the defensive end. Six of his 13 boards came on the offensive end.

On the season, Thomas is averaging 9.1 points and 10.3 rebounds in conference play. He has double-figure rebounds in five of the past eight games.

Thomas leads the nation's freshmen in rebounds per game in conference play. He is also one of 14 freshmen averaging two blocked shots per conference game and is the only rookie with 10 or more boards and two or more rejections per conference game.

In all games, Thomas is one of only three freshmen averaging 7.5 or more points, 7.5 or more rebounds and 1.5 or more blocks per game.

Wake Forest will host No. 5-ranked Duke on Wednesday at 8 p.m.
