NCAA® March Madness® on Demand - Wake Forest-Cleveland State Live Online!

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest has received an at-large bid to the 2009 NCAA Tournament and will be seeded fourth in the Midwest Region, as announced by the NCAA on Sunday evening. The Demon Deacons will open Tournament play on Friday, March 20, vs. 13th-seeded Cleveland State at American Airlines Arena in Miami.

Wake Forest enters the NCAA Tournament with a 24-6 overall record. The Deacons finished 11-5 in ACC play and received the No. 2 seed in last week's conference tournament.

The Deacs will be making their 21st all-time NCAA Tournament appearance and their first since the 2004-05 season. Wake Forest is 27-20 all-time in NCAA Tournament play. The Deacons have advanced to the Sweet 16 round 10 times, to the Elite Eight seven times and to the Final Four once (1962).

Cleveland State comes into the NCAA Tournament with a 25-10 overall record. The Vikings finished 12-6 in Horizon League play and went on to win the conference tournament by upsetting No. 16 Butler in the championship game.

Cleveland State will be making its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1986 when the Vikings were seeded 14th and upset third-seeded Indiana in the first round.

Wake Forest and Cleveland State have never met previously. The Deacons have already played one Horizon League team this season, defeating Wright State 66-53 on Dec. 14. Wake Forest is 2-1 all-time against the Horizon League. The Deacons defeated Wisconsin-Green Bay in 1993-94 and fell to Butler in the first round of the 2001 NCAA Tournament.

The winner of Wake Forest-Cleveland State will face the winner of the matchup between No. 5 seed Utah and No. 12 seed Arizona on Sunday. Louisville is the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region.

The semifinals and finals of the Midwest Region will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on March 27 and 29. The Final Four is set for April 4 and 6 at Ford Field in Detroit.
