WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will officially open the 2011-12 season by hosting Loyola (Md.) on Friday evening at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. The game features two programs who were coached by the late Skip Prosser. Prosser spent one season as the head coach at Loyola in 1993-94. He was the Deacons' head coach for six seasons from 2000-07.

How to Catch the Game
• Friday's game will be streamed live online via ESPN3.com. Tom Werme (play-by-play) and Brevin Knight (color) will call the action.
• The game can also be heard on the Wake Forest IMG College Sports Network and at WakeForestSports.com. Voice of the Deacons Stan Cotten (play-by-play) and Mark Freidinger (color) have the call.

Last Time Out
• Wake Forest posted an 82-43 exhibition win over Ferrum College last Friday in Winston-Salem.
• The Deacons used a strong defensive effort in the second half, holding Ferrum to 5-for-25 from the field, to pull away for the win.
Travis McKie (23 points, 16 rebounds) and Carson Desrosiers (10 points, 10 rebounds) posted double-doubles to lead the Deacons.

Meet the Greyhounds
• Loyola returns 11 letterwinners, including four starters, off last season's squad that finished 15-15 overall and 10-8 in the MAAC.
• The Greyhounds return their leading scorer in Shane Walker, who played at Maryland in 2007-08. Walker was named third team All-MAAC last season after averaging 11.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
• Head coach Jimmy Patsos, in his eighth season at Loyola, spent 13 seasons as an assistant coach in the ACC at Maryland.

Series History
• Loyola holds a 2-1 lead in the all-time series with Wake Forest and has won two straight over the Deacons. The series dates back to 1940.
• Wake Forest and Loyola have not met on the hardwood since Dec. 16, 1949, when the Greyhounds posted a 66-51 defeat of the Deacons in Baltimore.
• Wake Forest won the first-ever meeting between the two schools with a 54-53 overtime win on Feb. 5, 1941.

Next Up...
• Wake Forest will host Southern Conference foe Georgia Southern on Wednesday, Nov. 16. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m., as the game will be broadcast regionally by Fox.
• The Deacons are 2-0 all-time against the Eagles, earning wins in 1978-79 and 1985-86.
