WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will open the 2009-10 season with a double dip of games this weekend. The Demon Deacons are set to host Oral Roberts in the season opener on Friday at 8 p.m. before traveling to Greensboro to face East Carolina on Sunday at 2 p.m. Both games will be available on the Wake Forest ISP Sports Radio Network. The ECU game will be televised regionally on MASN.

The Deacons begin their 2009-10 campaign against Summit Leage foe Oral Roberts on Friday in the second game of a doubleheader with the Wake Forest women's basketball team. The Deacon women kick off the night at 5 p.m. vs. Jacksonville. Wake Forest will be playing its first-ever game against ORU and its first-ever game against a Summit League school.

Oral Roberts returns five letterwinners, including two starters, from last season's squad that finished 16-15 overall. The Golden Eagles went 14-4 in Summit League action to finish second in the league standings. ORU picked up exhibition wins last week over British Columbia and Harding.

Wake Forest will have a quick two-day turnaround to face East Carolina at the Greensboro Coliseum. The contest is considered a true road game for the Deacons, who will be getting their first of two looks during the regular season at the site of the 2010 ACC Tournament. Wake will also play UNC Greensboro at the Coliseum on Dec. 28.

Wake Forest leads the all-time series with East Carolina, 6-0. The Deacons went into Minges Coliseum in Greenville last Dec. 22 and came away with a 95-54 defeat of the Pirates.

ECU returns eight letterwinners, including three starters, off last year's squad that finished 13-17 overall and 5-11 in Conference USA play. Junior guard Brock Young is the son of former Deacon standout Danny Young (1981-84).

Wake in Season Openers
- The last time Wake Forest lost a season opener came in 1993-94 when then-freshman Tim Duncan and the Deacons lost at Alaska-Anchorage, 70-68, in the Great Alaska Shootout.
