WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Five members of the Wake Forest football team have been named to the All-ACC Academic Team. The five include defensive end Wendell Dunn, offensive tackle Justin Herron, safety Luke Masterson, tight end Cam Serigne and quarterback John Wolford.

For Wolford, it marks his fourth consecutive season on the team. Serigne makes the squad for the third year while Herron is a two-time honoree. This is the first appearance on the academic team for Dunn and Masterson.

Wolford, Serigne, and Dunn are all seniors. The trio of team captains helped the Deacons to an 8-5 record and a Belk Bowl victory over Texas A&M. Wolford finished his career as the Belk Bowl MVP and set numerous school records while leading the Demon Deacons to their greatest offensive season in school history. Serigne is the most prolific tight end in ACC history, setting school and conference marks for receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches by a tight end. Dunn is the school record-holder with 50 career starts while finishing his career with 156 tackles and seven sacks.

Herron started all 13 games in 2017 and was on the field for 987 snaps, the highest among Wake Forest’s offensive line. He was a key blocker for the Deacon offense that set school marks for total offense yards and points in a season.

Masterson was a key special teams player who earned three starts at safety during the season. He finished the year with 42 tackles and three pass break-ups.
