WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson today announced the signing of Marquis Alston, Jr. to a National Letter of Intent to play football for the Demon Deacons.

Alston, a 6-0, 185-pound defensive back from Smyrna, Ga. (Harrison), was a first team all-region selection this past season. He helped the Harrison Hoyas to the Region 6-6A championship and the third round of the state playoffs. Alston had 68 tackles, three interceptions and six pass break-ups as a senior.

Alston becomes the 22nd member of Wake Forest’s 2018 signing class. He will enroll at Wake Forest this summer and will be a freshman in the fall.

Eighteen of Wake Forest’s 22 freshmen served as a team captain for their high school team in 2017.
