Football Names 2017 Captains

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest head football coach Dave Clawson this morning named six student-athletes who will serve as captains for the Demon Deacons this fall.

The six are tight end Cam Serigne, defensive end Wendell Dunn, linebacker Grant Dawson, linebacker Jaboree Williams, quarterback John Wolford and center A’Lique Terry.

Serigne and Dunn were both captains in 2016. The others will serve as captains for the first time.

Serigne, a rising redshirt senior, has 130 career receptions for 1,519 yards and 12 touchdowns. He owns the school record for career touchdown receptions by a tight end ranks second in career receptions and career receiving yards by a tight end.

Dunn, a rising redshirt senior, has started 37 games in his career with 110 tackles and four sacks. He has started every game over the last three seasons.

Dawson, originally a walk-on from Reagan High School in Winston-Salem, started four times at linebacker in 2016 and produced a career-high 35 tackles during the season. Dawson will be a redshirt senior in 2017.

Jaboree Williams, a linebacker, was seventh on the team with 36 tackles in 2016. He started eight games and will be a senior in the fall.

 

 

Wolford, a rising senior, has started 33 of the last 37 games at quarterback for the Demon Deacons. Wolford has thrown for 5,602 yards and 30 touchdowns in his career.

Terry, a rising senior, started seven games as a true freshman and has been a consistent performer at center.
