Looney Third Deacon Picked in Fourth Round of NFL Draft

Joe Looney, Wake Forest's four-year starter at offensive guard, was picked in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Looney was the 22nd player picked in the fourth round and the 117th overall player selected.
Looney, a second team All-ACC selection as a senior, was Wake Forest's highest-rated offensive lineman in 2011, grading out at 86 percent for the season. He also led the Deacons with 79.5 knockdown blocks. Looney started 41 games during his Wake Forest career and totaled 228.5 knockdown blocks.
