Whitlock Named To Preseason All-ACC Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest junior nose guard Nikita Whitlock was named to the Preseason All-ACC team as selected by the media members attending the annual ACC Football Kickoff earlier this week at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C.
Whitlock is the first Demon Deacon to be named to the Preseason All-ACC team since 2008. A total of four Deacons were named to the 2008 team, including Josh Adams, Aaron Curry, Alphonso Smith and Sam Swank.
Whitlock enjoyed a stellar 2011 campaign that saw him finish fourth on the team with 64 tackles, including a team-best 14 tackles for loss. He enters the 2012 season second among active ACC players with 24.5 career tackles for loss.
The Wylie, Texas native, earned second team All-ACC honors a year ago and finished fifth in the conference in tackles for loss. Whitlock was also named to the a sophomore All-American Team by College Football News.
Whitlock and the Demon Deacons are set to open preseason camp on Monday, Aug. 6.
