The Match-Up
• Wake Forest will open the 2017 season at home on Thursday, August 31 against Presbyterian in a nonconference match-up. • Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at BB&T Field and will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. Shawn Kenney and former Wake Forest head coach Al Groh will have the call of Thursday's game. • Thursday's game can also be heard on the Wake Forest Sports Network. Stan Cotten and Lary Sorensen have the call with Dave Goren reporting from the sidelines.

Wake Forest Storylines
• Wake Forest heads into 2017 under fourth-year head coach Dave Clawson, who led the team to its first bowl victory since 2008 a year ago, a 34-26 victory over No. 23 Temple in the Military Bowl.
• Senior Cam Serigne was named preseason All-ACC at tight end and has also been named to the Mackey Award watch list.
• The Deacs were picked to finish fifth in the ACC Atlantic Division.
John Wolford was named the team's starting quarterback coming out of fall camp and will be making his fourth-straight opening day start at quarterback.

The Opposition & Series History
• Presbyterian is led by head coach Tommy Spangler, who had served as the defensive coordinator for the Blue Hose the last four seasons.
• It will be Spangler's second stint in charge of Presbyterian, as he was the head coach from 2001-2006. Overall, 2017 will be his seventh season as a head coach at Presbyterian and 15th season overall on the Presbyterian coaching staff.
• Presbyterian, a member of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), and member of the Big South Conference, finished last season 2-9 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

Looking Ahead
• The Deacs hit the road for the first time in 2017 and open up conference play, as the team heads north to take on Boston College on Saturday, Sept. 9.
• Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
