GREENSBORO, N.C. -- True freshman Cade Carney and redshirt junior Duke Ejiofor have been named as ACC `Players of the Week' the league office announced Monday. Carney was named as the league's `Rookie of the Week', while Ejiofor earned `Defensive Lineman of the Week' honors for their performances in the Demon Deacons' 24-14 victory over Duke this past week.

Carney, a native of Advance, North Carolina, rushed for 108 yards on 17 carries while scoring three touchdowns to lead the Wake Forest attack. Carney became the first true freshman running back with three touchdowns in a game since Chris Barclay had three in a win at Purdue in 2002. The freshman also became the first running back to eclipse the 100-yard mark in a game since Josh Harris and Deandre Martin each ran for over 100 yards in a win at Army in 2012. Carney had touchdown runs of seven and one yards before scoring on a career-long 55-yard run in the third quarter.

Ejiofor had a career-day against the Blue Devils, recording career-highs in tackles (7), sacks (3) and tackles for loss (4). The Houston, Texas, product also forced two fumbles and recovered one, the first-career forced fumble and recovery in the redshirt junior's career. Ejiofor's three sacks were one shy of the school record of four set by Mike McCrary vs. Maryland in 1992.

The Deacs return home this Saturday, September 17, as Wake Forest plays host to Delaware. Kickoff inside BB&T Field is set for 6:30 p.m.
