Rodney Added to Bednarik Award Watch List

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest defensive tackle Zeek Rodney has been added to the Bednarik Award watch list.

Rodney, a 6-1, 305 pound redshirt junior from Rock Hill, S.C. (South Pointe) has recorded 18 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and sack through Wake Forest’s first six games of the season. He is tied for the team lead with four quarterback hurries.

Wake Forest ranks 30th in the nation in total defense, allowing 339.5 yards per game. The Deacons are seventh in the ACC in total defense, fourth in interceptions and third in passing efficiency defense.

Rodney joins linemate Duke Ejiofor on the Bednarik Award watch list.

The Chuck Bednarik Award has been presented since 1995 and is named in honor of Chuck Bednarik. Mr. Bednarik is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame ‘69 and the NFL Hall of Fame ‘67. The award goes to the nation’s top collegiate defensive player.
