Head Coach Jim Grobe

On the close loss with Miami...
"It was tough - really, really tough. It was not a real happy locker room after the game. We had a great opportunity. We really just needed to make another play. In special teams, offensively and defensively, one more play gets the job done. We came up a little short but I was proud of the effort we gave."

On how Wake Forest played in the game against Miami...
"We didn't get win the game, and we can't be too happy about that. But at the same time, the effort to win the game was as good as it could have been. We just came up a little short against a really good football team, so the good news is our guys are playing real, real hard right now, but we're not happy with not coming out with a win."

On learning from the loss...
"I think the message is to the players that if we play hard, we'll have a chance. But there are no guarantees. When you get against all the teams we played, everybody we played is a good football team. There's nobody that doesn't have good players, that's not well coached. When you get in games where you have opportunities to win, the only way to you do that is to make plays. You can't just hope it's going to happen, you have to make plays."

On the play of the offense...
"I think we're playing pretty well together. I think we've done a pretty good job with just trying to find ways to make first downs and scoring points. Our guys haven't been ego driven and our guys share the responsibilities out there. Tanner (Price) has done a better job distributing the football and made a few mistakes against Miami, but you're going to do that as all our players do. Our guys are just playing hard right now. We're not playing great all the time, but we're doing some good things. We need to build on that because we're going to have to do some good things in the next four games, and certainly at Syracuse, to win."

On facing Syracuse on Saturday...
"Everywhere we go it's tough to play on the road. All the teams we play against have good support. They're tough venues and you have to stay focused to win on the road. Hopefully Miami was a step in the right direction as far as our intensity level. I didn't feel like we had that at Boston College and we certainly didn't have it at Clemson. I felt like we picked it up at Army. But no matter how good a football team we are, we know every team we play in this league is a tough team, but playing on the road compounds all your problems."

Senior Quarterback Tanner Price

On the direction of the team despite the loss at Miami...
"It's tough whenever you lose a game like that just because you come so close and you think you have it. To lose in the last couple minutes of the game is always really hard, but it was encouraging to see that we were competitive against a Top 10 team. I think the team is in a really good spot right now. It's a great group of guys with a lot of energy, and I think we still have a lot of momentum. So we're going to look to carry that up to Syracuse with us and hopefully have a really great game up there."

On the balance between the offense and defense...
"I think we've been playing pretty well as a team - offense and defense. When the offense doesn't necessarily step up to the plate, the defense will pick up our slack, and the same has been happening with the offense. Unfortunately, we weren't able to do it on that last drive, but prior to that when the Miami offense scored, we were able to go down and put up some points. Now we just need to finish."

On playing up at the Carrier Dome...
"It's a little bit different. You don't have to worry about the weather conditions. It gets pretty hot in the dome, but I always have enjoyed playing in a dome. I think it's a fun atmosphere. Last time we were up there, it was a really fun game - a disappointing outcome for us - but it was still fun getting to play up in the Carrier Dome."

Sophomore Linebacker Brandon Chubb

On the loss at Miami...
"The loss is heartbreaking. The game overall, we played a great game offensively and defensively. It came down to the last drive of the game, as you guys saw. I felt like on both ends of the ball, we played our hearts out. Unfortunately we didn't come out with the win, but it showed a lot. It showed our character. It showed a lot about how this team has transformed from week one and just how far we've come down the road. I think it was a good test for us - for ourselves to know that we can play with any competition that we have on our schedule."

On the team morale moving forward...
"We're very uplifted. We're very set on our goals for the rest of the season. Like I said, that loss was a test of our character. It showed how we overcome battles and just what we can do and our full potential. Knowing that gives you the best confidence in the world for these next four games that are approaching. We have a tough schedule. We have four good opponents we have to play, and (we need) two more wins to get bowl eligible. It's a great feeling going into the last four weeks of the season knowing that you can reach that goal."

Junior Safety Anthony Wooding, Jr.

On the Miami game...
"It was a tough loss. You prepare to win, so we prepared all week, and to go up there and not really get the job done is always tough. To compete with a team like that and have the opportunity to win it at the end on the defense's shoulders - it was a tough loss at the end of the day."

On Syracuse...
"They have a bigger running back, so (we're) just trying to get the running back down. If he reaches the second or third level, just trying to make great stops."

On how the defense is playing lately...
"We've always been a confident defense, I think through the season. At the end of the day, the (Miami) game was on the line and we felt confident with it being on our shoulders as a defense."
