HUMBLE, Texas – The Wake Forest men’s golf team concluded play Sunday at the All-American Intercollegiate with the third round at the Golf Club of Houston. The Demon Deacons shot 6-under for the second straight day to end the tournament at 14-under.

Auburn won the title at 42-under, followed by Baylor at 26-under and Ole Miss at 23-under. South Carolina was fourth at 21-under, while co-host Houston finished at 15-under, one shot ahead of the Demon Deacons.

“It was a good opening event to the spring,” said head coach Jerry Haas. “Shooting 14-under is very solid and if we clean up a few things, here or there, we could have shot 10 to 12 shots better. It was a good start to the spring and we look forward to a very tough schedule the rest of the way.”

Lee Detmer led the Demon Deacons at the event, finishing T-7th at 8-under after a final round 70. Eric Bae had the low round of the day for the Deacs, shooting a 4-under 68 to finish T-14th at 5-under.

Paul McBride and Marco Steyn each shot even par 72 on Sunday to round out the scoring four the Deacs during the final round.

Wake Forest will return to action March 3-6 with the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Los Cabos, Mexico.
