AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Wake Forest men’s golf team finished tied for second at the 3M Augusta Invitational. The Demon Deacons shot 6-under during the final round at Forest Hills Golf Club to finish the tournament at 10-under.

The Demon Deacons tied Houston for runner-up honors as Illinois won the event at 25-under. Kennesaw State and USC Aiken tied for fourth at 6-under.

“We need to get better out of the gate, but I was happy with the way the guys grind and play with that Deacon pride,” said head coach Jerry Haas. “We were able to tie for second despite not getting off the to start we wanted today. If we clean up a few things, hopefully we can be a little bit better at MacGregor Downs and then ultimately at the ACC Championship in three weeks.”

Cameron Young shot a final round 67 to finish in fourth place at 7-under. After being 2-over through the first five holes, Young shot 7-under the rest of the round, including an eagle on No. 9 and four birdies on the back nine.

Parker Gillam shot a final round 70 to finish the tournament at 2-under, T-17th place. Lee Detmer shot a 72 and Eric Bae shot a 73 to each finish the tournament at 3-over. Paul McBride finished at 4-over after a final-round 77.

The Demon Deacons conclude the regular season with the Stitch Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs, held April 13-15 in Cary.
