CARY, N.C. – The Wake Forest men’s golf team continued play Saturday at the Stitch Intercollegiate with second round play at MacGregor Downs. The Demon Deacons shot 5-under during the second round to finish the day in tied for third place at 11-under.

Duke is the 36-hole leader at 22-under after posting an 18-under round on Saturday. Host NC State is second at 12-under, with the Demon Deacons and East Carolina tied for third at 11-under.

“We need to capitalize a little bit more on our opportunities,” said head coach Jerry Haas. “For the most part, everyone played pretty well. We didn’t get the putts to go down early, but everyone hung in there like they always do. It’s never from a lack of effort. We need to play a good round tomorrow to give us some momentum heading into ACCs.”

Paul McBride and Cameron Young shared honors for low Deac of the day, each posting a 3-under 69. McBride is tied for third at 6-under for the tournament, while Young is in 11th place at 4-under.
