Preston Yates Leads Deacon Individuals at Gordin-Myers Classic

DURHAM, NC - Senior Preston Yates shot a second round 1-over 73 Monday afternoon and is tied for 11th after 36 holes of the Gordin-Myers Collegiate Classic at the Duke Golf Club in Durham, NC.
Yates played pretty solid all day as he carded a 77 in the morning round under wet and cool conditions. He then responded with three birdies in the first 10 holes of the afternoon round to get to 2-under and would finish with three bogeys in the final eight to post a 73.
Sophomore Franklin Dolan and junior Justin Bryant are also in this field this week which features seven of the best teams in Division III and a number of individuals from other Division I schools. Dolan carded rounds of 83-78 and is tied for 48th while Bryant was hampered by a sore wrist and posted rounds of 95-89.
North Carolina State's Kent Copeland shot one of three rounds in the 60s on Monday and leads the individual race by one shot after rounds of 69-74 (-1). Joseph Flowers of Skidmore College is the low Division III player as he is even-par after rounds of 73-71.
The nation's top-ranked Division III team, Methodist University, leads the team race with a 36-hole total of 591 (288-303). Behind Flowers, Skidmore is second but trails Methodist by 14 shots.
The final round will begin on Tuesday with tee times off of both tees at 8:00 am. Golfstat.com will have live scoring of the round.
