WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest sophomore Will Zalatoris received a sponsor’s exemption to compete in the 2016 AT&T Byron Nelson, the PGA Tour event held May 16-22 at the TPC Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas in Irving, Texas.

The tournament will be the second PGA Tour event of Zalatoris’ career. Last year he made his debut at the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles after winning the Northern Trust Open Collegiate Showcase at the Riviera Country Club.

The tournament, whose past winners include Wake Forest alumnus Lanny Wadkins, is located 20 miles from Zalatoris’ home in Plano, Texas.

“This opportunity is an absolute dream come true,” said Zalatoris. “Besides any major, I have wanted to play and win the Byron Nelson since the first time I went to it as a nine-year-old. I look forward to learning from the best and testing my skills. Jordan Spieth inspired a lot of kids in the Dallas area with his success at that tournament, and hopefully I can make the same effect on a couple kids come the end of May.”

Zalatoris enters the spring season leading the Deacons in scoring average at 70.00 and is ranked No. 11 in the Golfstat individual rankings. He will return to action later this month as he looks to defend his Northern Trust Open Collegiate Showcase title in Los Angeles.
