WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Rising senior Brendan Gielow and rising sophomore Lee Bedford have both been named to the 2009 All-ACC Academic Men's Golf Team as announced by the ACC Office on Wednesday. There are a total of 18 student-athletes on the All-Academic Team and Gielow is one of six athletes to be a three-time honoree. He also earned the award each of his first two seasons. Gielow was second on the team this year with a 73.0 stroke average over 37 rounds. He had a total of seven top-20 finishes on the year including his first career victory at the VCU Shootout last fall. Gielow fired a career-best 7-under 64 in the second round and finished a career-best 12-under par for the three rounds. Gielow was also named a 2008-09 Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar. Bedford had a solid freshman campaign, finishing with a 74.5 stroke average and seven top-20 finishes. He led the team at three tournaments this season, including the ACC Championship where he finished a season-best 4-under par and had his lowest finish of tied for 6th. Bedford and Gielow are also the last two Demon Deacon freshmen to earn Academic All-ACC honors. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. 2009 All-ACC Academic Men's Golf Team
