Productive defender who showed promise as a wideback in his first season at WFU -- transferred from Indiana after redshirting his freshman season there -- a hard-nosed defender with an intense desire to win -- left-footed.
1999: Started all 21 games for the Deacs at defender as a newcomer -- scored his first career goal vs. South Carolina -- recorded two assisted vs. Davidson -- made a late game appearance as goalkeeper vs. Furman but did not record a save -- made the Dean's List both semesters during the 1999-2000 academic year.
Before WFU: A member of Indiana's 1998 national championship team -- did not see any playing time as a freshman at IU, redshirting the season -- a high school All-American -- a first-team all-state honoree -- the 1995 New England Soccer Magazine Player of the Year -- named by USA Today as one of the Top 25 high school recruits in 1998 -- a member of the U.S. Under-17 National Team in '94 and '95 -- took eight international trips with the U-17 squad, playing every minute of the World Cup and World Cup qualifying matches -- a member of the the Massachusetts state ODP team for seven years (1991-97) and the Region I team for five years (1993-97) -- also played basketball and lacrosse in high school.
Personal: Planning to major in communication at WFU -- attended high school with pro soccer player Tim Howard of the NY/NJ Metrostars, as well as with pro tennis players Anna Kournikova and Todd Scheck -- also high school teammates with former Deacon newcomer Nick Lange -- born 12/7/78 -- the son of John and Helen Thompson of Wellesley, Mass.
