LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- No. 2-ranked Wake Forest scored three unanswered goals to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 win over No. 8-ranked Louisville at Lynn Stadium on Saturday night.

The early momentum was in favor of the Cardinals (3-1-1, 0-1-0 ACC) after an early header goal by Tate Schmitt in the 16th minute.

That momentum evaporated in a span of 30 seconds. At the 33:41 mark, Louisville All-American Tim Kubel was handed a red card, and the Cardinals were forced to play a man down. Less than a minute later, Jon Bakero scored his fourth goal of the season off assists from Brad Dunwell and Sam Raben to knot the score at 1-1.

Playing a man up, the Demon Deacons (4-1-0, 1-0-0 ACC) took control in the second half. After one-touch passes from Brandon Servania and Omir Fernandez in the box, Ema Twumasi was there for the tap-in goal in the 56th minute, his first of the season.

Fernandez added a goal of his own in the 71st minute. From the left side of the box, he weaved through the back line to the right side before turning and finishing inside the far post to push the lead to 3-1 for his first collegiate score.

The Cards had a 10-8 advantage in shots, but Wake Forest put more shots on target, 4-2, and took more corners, also by a 4-2 margin

Andreu Cases Mundet made one save as he improved to 4-1-0 in goal.

Wake Forest returns home on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game against App State. Next Saturday, the Deacs will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2007 National Championship team as part of the Homecoming festivities.
