CARY, N.C. -- No. 2-ranked Wake Forest knocked off No. 4 North Carolina on the road, earning a 2-1 victory at WakeMed Soccer Park on Friday night.

Jon Bakero notched the game-winner, his seventh goal of the year, in the 66th minute. After a long ball from Logan Gdula, Ema Twumasi sent a cross into the box where Bakero was there for the one-timer finish.

The Demon Deacons (11-1-0, 5-0-0 ACC) got on the board in the 39th minute. Omir Fernandez beat the keeper far post off a Bruno Lapa pass to make the score 1-0.

North Carolina (11-2-0, 4-1-0 ACC) recorded a 47th-minute equalizer. After a foul just outside the 18, Cam Lindley bent his free kick into the upper-90 to knot the score at 1-1 before Bakero's second-half winner.

Wake Forest is now the last remaining unbeaten team in ACC play after topping the Tar Heels in the battle of undefeateds.

After an even first half in which each team took five shots, the Deacs controlled the run of play in the second half. Wake Forest out-shot UNC, 10-5, in the second period, and took five corners without allowing any.

The Deacs return to action on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. non-conference game against Longwood at Spry Stadium.
