CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - No. 12 Boston College defeated the No. 1 Wake Forest men's soccer team 1-0 on Saturday night in Chestnut Hill.

BC's leading striker Alejandro Bedoya scored in the 21st minute, herding a free kick by Idan Shefler past Wake goalkeeper Brian Edwards with a quick left step. The goal was Bedoya's seventh for the season and proved to be the game-winner in the contest.

Edwards had six saves for the night, his highest mark in 2007. The Charlotte, N.C. native now has 41 saves for the season.

The Deacs out shot the Eagles in the first half 9-7, but BC came back to hold Wake to just 3 shots in the second period while they managed 12 shots, including five shots on goal.

With the loss the Deacons are now 12-1-2 and 4-1-1 in the ACC. With the win the Eagles are 10-3-1, 6-0-0 and keep a secure hold on the top conference spot.

The match marked the end of a four-match road trip for the Demon Deacons. Wake will return to Spry Stadium this Saturday to host North Carolina at 7 p.m.
