CARY, N.C. - All-Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman Team selection Andy Lubahn scored a pair of goals to lead No. 3 Wake Forest to a 3-0 win against Clemson on a rainy and windy Wednesday night at WakeMed Soccer Park.

With the win, the Demon Deacons improve to 14-3-2 on the season, while Clemson drops to 6-12-1.

The Deacs will now face Virginia in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament on Friday at 5:30 p.m. (ET). The Cavaliers defeated Maryland 1-0 on Wednesday to advance to the semis.

After a scoreless first half, the Wake offense exploded for three goals in the second 45 minutes. Lubahn scored the first two goals, tallying in the 48th and 63rd minutes. Luke Norman closed out the scoring with a goal in the 66th minute.

Just a day after being named to the All-ACC Freshman Team, Lubahn showed why he was worthy of those accolades with two goals. With the scores, the Erie, Pa., native now has nine goals on the season, placing him in a tie for second for goals by a freshman in school history.

Norman also scored, recording his second goal of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Akira Fitzgerald recorded his sixth shutout of the season and 20th of his career, making three saves. For the season, Fitzgerald lowered his goals against average to 0.65.

Joseph Bendik suffered the loss in goal for the Tigers. Bendik made five saves and allowed three goals.

Corben Bone, Austin da Luz and Zack Schilawski each recorded assists in the game. Bone provided the helper on Lubahn's first goal for his 35th career assist. Schilawski and da Luz contributed on the second goal by Lubahn. Da Luz's assist was his school-record 36th career assist, while Schilawski increased his season point total to 27.

Wake Forest held a dominating 18-8 advantage in shots, including an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. The Deacs attempted six corner kicks, while Clemson had three corners.

Wake had a 12-3 advantage in shots in the first half, but was unable to score. The best chance in the first 45 minutes for the Demon Deacons came off a corner kick in the 23rd minute. A corner from da Luz found Anthony Arena just outside the goal line. Arena had a shot from point-blank range, but Bendik was able to make the save.

The Deacs wasted little time in scoring in the second half as Lubahn scored in the 48th minute. Bone played a through ball to Lubahn that found him 1-on-1 with Bendik. Lubahn's shot from 12 yards out beat Bendik to put Wake in front 1-0.

Lubahn added a second goal in the 63rd minute. Schilawski played a pass out to the left that found da Luz. Da Luz played a cross in to Lubahn, who back heeled a shot into the goal from six yards out to make the score 2-0.

Wake Forest closed the scoring with a goal in the 66th minute. Norman fired a shot from 25 yards out that found the lower right corner of the goal to put the Deacs in front 3-0.

The Demon Deacons return to the pitch on Friday, facing Virginia in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park.
