WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest seniors Anthony Arena and Luciano Delbono were each selected in the 2013 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft on Tuesday afternoon. The Houston Dynamo selected Arena, while the Montreal Impact selected Delbono.

Arena went in the First Round of the MLS Supplemental Draft with the 18th overall pick. Delbono was then taken in the Third Round with the 46th overall pick.

Both seniors were vital to Wake Forest's success this season in their defensive roles, helping the Demon Deacons post seven shutouts on the year.

Arena, a native of Kenmore, Wash., has been a mainstay in the Demon Deacon lineup since he arrived on campus in 2009. In four years, he played in 79 games and made 74 starts. He finished his career with six goals, one assist and 13 points. Arena was also named to the ACC All-Freshman Team in 2009 and then earned Second Team All-ACC Honors in 2010 as a sophomore.

Delbono came to Wake Forest from R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston-Salem and became one of the Deacs' most reliable players in 2012. Starting 18 of the 19 games in which he played, Delbono turned in a solid senior campaign in mostly a defensive midfield position. He also was able to score his only career goal in a 4-1 win at Virginia on October 12, while dishing out two assists on the year.

The MLS Regular Season is set to start the beginning March, while preseason competition will start as early as the end of January.
