WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Former Wake Forest men's soccer player Jack Harrison has been signed by the Premier League's Manchester City and will play on loan with Middlesbrough FC.

Harrison spent the past two years with New York City FC of the MLS, where he racked up 14 goals and 13 assists in 55 appearances.

He previously spent one season at Wake Forest, earning first team All-American honors and being named the 2015 ACC Offensive Player of the Year. As a Demon Deacon, he started all 22 games and led the team with eight goals and 11 assists, helping the Deacs to the NCAA Quarterfinal. NYCFC traded for Harrison when he was taken No. 1 overall in the MLS SuperDraft.

Middlesbrough was relegated from the Premier League to the EFL Championship last year but is in contention for a promotion this season. They are currently in eighth in the EFL with a record of 13-10-6.

A Bolton, England native, Harrison gets to return to his home country where he also was recently called up to England's U-21 National Team.

He is the first Demon Deacon to sign with a Premier League side since Cody Arnoux did so with Everton in 2009.
