WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Sean Okoli connected on the game-winning goal in the 57th minute as the Wake Forest men's soccer team defeated North Carolina 2-1 on Saturday, April 21 at Spry Stadium.

UNC got on the board first in the 20th minute off a long cross and header before Luca Gimenez netted the equalizer 11 minutes later. Kyle Emerson gained control of a rebound in the mixer before dishing it out to Gimenez at the top of the box, where the forward fired a low-liner near post to beat the UNC keeper.

The two sides would go into the half knotted, 1-1, but Wake Forest continued to attack frequently in the second half with a number of good opportunities throughout the second frame.

Okoli would get the game-winner in the 57th minute, catching a pass from Ross Tomaselli and juggling the ball to himself before chipping over the goalkeeper and heading the shot into the net.

With the win, Wake Forest closes out its spring schedule 3-1-1. The Deacs also claimed victories over Coastal Carolina and West Virginia during their exhibition schedule. Three practices remain during the coming week before the team begins to prepare for finals and the summer break.
