Deacs 2012 Recruiting Class Tops in Nation by College Soccer News

By Steven Wright, Wake Forest Media Relations (@SIDeacons) WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's soccer team's 2012 recruiting class has been named the top recruiting class in the nation by College Soccer News. "We know these guys are talented and that our top players are the types of players who can play Wake Forest soccer. We know they can move on and advance and make us a more competitive program," said Wake Forest head men's soccer coach Jay Vidovich. "The fact that other people recognize this as well is fantastic, and now they just need to get it done." Highlighting the class, according to the College Soccer News individual rankings, are Michael Gamble and Jalen Robinson. Gamble is marked as the top player in the class of 2012, while Robinson is ranked as the third-best player in the class. The Demon Deacons have also already made a splash with the 2013 class, as Collin Martin opted to graduate from high school a year early to join the Wake Forest program. Martin is ranked by CSN as the third-best player in the class of 2013. Other newcomers to the Wake Forest roster include Andrew Harris (CSN #35), Thomas Haws, Andrew Powell (transfer from Bucknell), Ryan Perry, Ricky Greensfelder, Philip Parker, Alec Ferrell, David Myers and Fabrice Momo.
Wake Forest is set to begin its season on August 25 against Wofford at 7 p.m. at Spry Stadium. Capsule from College Soccer News 1. Wake Forest - The Demon Deacons have put together a phenomenal eight member recruiting class that features midfielder Michael Gamble and defender Jalen Robinson who are rated by CSN as the number one and three players in the class of 2012. Add goalkeeper Andrew Harris (#35) who is a two-time NSCAA High School All-American and highly regarded forward Thomas Haws to the mix and you have the makings of a great class. The late addition of midfielder Collin Martin, rated by CSN as the third best player in the class of 2012, who will be graduating high school early makes this the top class in the country. |
