Wake Forest-Virginia Notes Get Acrobat Reader | ACC Tournament Central | Watch Live on ACC Select

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Top seed and third ranked Wake Forest looks for its first trip to the ACC Tournament Finals since 2007 when it battles fifth-seed and No. 6 Virginia on Friday at 5:30 p.m. (ET) at WakeMed Soccer Park.

Third-seed Boston College and seventh-seed NC State will meet in the other semifinal at 8 p.m. on Friday. The two winners with meet in the ACC Tournament Finals on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Wake Forest (14-3-2, 5-2-1 ACC) enters the semifinals after defeating Clemson 3-0 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. After a scoreless first half, freshman Andy Lubahn scored a pair of goals in the second half and Luke Norman added a third goal as the Deacs claimed a 3-0 win. Senior goalkeeper Akira Fitzgerald notched his sixth shutout of the season, making three saves in the victory.

Senior forward Zack Schilawski leads Wake Forest offensively with an ACC-leading 11 goals and 27 points on the season. Senior midfielder Austin da Luz has also reached the 20-point mark on the season with four goals and a conference-best 12 assists. Lubahn is third in points with 18, scoring nine goals on the season.

In goal, Fitzgerald has a 14-3-2 record and ranks third in the league with a 0.65 goals against average. Fitzgerald has made 69 saves, recording a save percentage of .852.

Virginia (13-3-2, 4-3-1 ACC) enters Friday's semifinal unbeaten in its last nine games, including recording shutouts in each of the last six contests. The Cavaliers have not allowed a goal in the last 637 minutes of play. UVa defeated fourth-seed Maryland 1-0 on Wednesday to advance to the semis.

The Cavaliers are paced offensively by Will Bates, who has scored a team-leading seven goals and 15 points on the season. Neil Barlow has contributed a team-high five assists to go along with four goals. Tony Tchani has found the back of the net six times on the season.

In goal, Diego Restrepo leads the ACC and ranks third nationally with a 0.38 goals against average. Restrepo has recorded 10 shutouts on the season, allowing just seven goals and making 41 saves in 1675 minutes of action.

Virginia leads the all-time series against Wake Forest 32-6-5, including a 10-0-2 edge when the two teams meet in the ACC Tournament. The Cavaliers and Deacons met in the semis of the 2008 ACC Tourney, with Virginia winning 3-2 in double overtime. UVa claimed a 1-0 win in the 2009 regular season meeting against Wake Forest.
