Bresky Adds Chris Eaton to Coaching Staff

Eaton had a six-year professional career and was ranked as high as 317 in the world in singles.

Chris Eaton joined the Wake Forest men's tennis staff as an assistant coach in the 2016-17 season.

Eaton had a six-year professional career from 2007-12, earning career-high rankings of 317 in singles and 147 in doubles, before joining the coaching ranks.

"Chris will be an excellent addition to our coaching staff at Wake Forest," Bresky said. "He has big shoes to fill in replacing Jeremy Feldman, who did an excellent job with our program and was recently named the head coach at UNC-Charlotte. I know Chris is excited about the opportunity and is looking to build on our success."

As a professional player, Eaton played in the main draw at Wimbledon for four straight years, and totaled three singles and 22 doubles titles on tour. The Great Britain native also represented his home country in the 2009 Davis Cup against Ukraine.

"I am extremely excited and honored to be able to work with coach Tony Bresky at such a successful and ambitious program," Eaton said. "I would like to thank coach Bresky and the athletic administration at Wake Forest for giving me this opportunity, and I can't wait to get to work and help achieve the goals we have for this team."

Eaton has helped coach Henri Kontinen, John Peers and Jamie Murray. Accomplishments by those three in 2016 include winning the Wimbledon mixed doubles title, runners-up in the Wimbledon and U.S. Open men's doubles finals, and three total tour titles.

"Chris has lot of experience at the professional level, both as as a player and a coach. He has participated in Grand Slams and Davis Cup as a player and also recently coached a Grand Slam champion," Bresky added. "As our players continue to progress and pursue professional tennis, Chris will be a great role model in helping our players maximize their abilities on and off the court. The addition of Chris to our staff is an exciting time for our program. He has already become a good friend and I'm looking forward to working with him for years to come."
