No. 22 Deacons Top No. 30 Badgers 4-0 at ITA Kick-Off Weekend

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The 22-nd ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team got its season off to a hot start, taking down No. 30 Wisconsin 4-0 at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Lexington, Ky. Saturday. The Demon Deacons will take on the winner of this afternoon's match between No. 12 Kentucky and No. 42 Boise State tomorrow for a spot in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Seattle, Wash. The Deacons outlasted the Badgers to claim a hard-fought doubles point. Wisconsin picked up the first doubles match in a tiebreak at the No. 1 position as Billy Bertha and Marek Michalicka edged Iain Atkinson and Tripper Carleton 9-8 (0). David Hopkins and Zach Leslie evened the score with an 8-3 win over Alex Robles and Alexander Teppert at No. 3. Jonathan Wolff and Danny Kreyman took the doubles point at the No. 2 spot, nudging past Rod Carey and Ricardo Martin 9-8 (4). Playing No. 2 singles for the first time in his career, No. 100 Kreyman put Wake ahead 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Bertha. David Hopkins put the Deacons on the verge of a clinch by taking down Petr Satral 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 4 slot. No. 109 Atkinson scored the deciding victory at No. 3 singles, edging Martin 7-5, 7-6 (2).
