Wake Forest Falls to No. 5 Florida at ITA Kick-Off Weekend

Jan. 29, 2012 GAINESVILLE, Fla. - No. 5 Florida proved to be too much for the Wake Forest men's tennis team, defeating the Demon Deacons 6-1 on Sunday at the Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla. The loss was the Deacons' first of the season, dropping them to 4-1. With the win, the Gators (3-0) advance to the ITA National Indoor Championships. Danny Kreyman, who is ranked No. 115 nationally in singles, picked up Wake Forest's lone win of the match, defeating Nassim Slilam 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10) at the No. 2 position. Kreyman is now 4-1 in dual matches this season and 7-1 in tiebreaks. Wake Forest was swept in doubles for the first time this season by a formidable Florida lineup that featured three duos that are ranked in the top 50 nationally. Billy Federhofer clinched the win for the Gators at the No. 6 position, defeating Alex Tsai 6-1, 6-2. Wake Forest will return home to host No. 47 VCU and No. 28 Notre Dame in a doubleheader on Friday at the Indoor Tennis Center.
