Wake Forest Shuts Down South Carolina 5-2

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The 36th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team continued its hot start to the season Friday, topping No. 49 South Carolina 5-2 in Columbia, S.C. to earn its first road win of the year.
The Demon Deacons (8-1) won the doubles point for the first time in three matches, and then received singles victories from No. 59 Amogh Prabhakar, No. 90 Danny Kreyman, Adam Lee and Sam Bloom to earn the win.
In tight doubles point, Kreyman and Lee got off the court first for the Deacons, downing Kyle Koch and Harry Menzies 8-6 at the No. 2 position. David Hopkins and Prabhakar clinched the opening point at the top position, edging Tsvetan Mihov and Chip Cox 8-7 (4). Playing their first dual match together at No. 3, Bloom and Jon Ho were in a tiebreak when the doubles point was decided and the match was stopped.
Bloom quickly gave the Deacons their second point at the No. 6 position, cruising by Menzies 6-3, 6-2. Prabhakar followed at No. 2, dispatching Cox 6-2, 6-4 to make the Wake Forest lead 3-0.
Kreyman clinched the match for the Demon Deacons, winning two tight sets at No. 3 against Andrew Adams, 7-6( 4), 6-4.
Wake Forest's fifth point came courtesy of Lee, who outlasted Koch in a marathon 10-point tiebreak played in lieu of a third set to prevail 6-7, 6-7 (4), 1-0 (10).
Next up for Wake Forest is a home clash with No. 14 Tennessee on Sunday at noon at the Indoor Tennis Center. T-shirts will be given out to the first 100 fans, and free food will be available. The Deacons will also face Elon on Sunday at 6 p.m.
