Parr Posts 100th Career Singles Win as WFU Drops Maryland, 6-1

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Wake Forest senior Cory Parr posted his 100th career singles victory on Friday afternoon, defeating Maryland's David Kwon 6-3, 6-3 en route to WFU's 6-1 victory in College Park. Parr becomes only the fourth athlete to achieve the accomplishment in the history of the Demon Deacon men's tennis program. Parr opened the match with a 9-7 victory at No. 1 doubles with Steven Forman. David Hopkins and Jon Wolff won their fourth consecutive match, taking down David Kwon and Nickolai Nielson 8-4 at No. 2. Iain Atkinson and Carlos Salmon polished off the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 3. Jon Wolff extended his unbeaten singles streak to 11 matches with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3. Along with Parr, Iain Atkinson, Jason Morgenstern and Steven Forman also added straight set wins. Freshman Joost Vogel dropped a 6-5, 6-1 match at No. 4 to Mathias Sarrazin to give the Terrapins their only victory of the night. Wake Forest is now headed Providence, R.I. to play a doubleheader with Boston College and Brown on Sunday. Wake Forest 6, Maryland 1
