Wake Forest Defeats NC State in ACC Opener
March 24, 2010 WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's tennis team improved to 7-4 and 1-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 5-2 victory over NC State in the first conference contest of the season on Wednesday afternoon at Leighton Stadium. NC State is now 11-4 and 1-1. Wake Forest's 16th-ranked doubles team of Iain Atkinson and Steven Forman led off with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles over Dominic Hodgson and Rob Lowe. Danny Kreyman and Amogh Prabhakar dropped an 8-5 contest at No. 2, but Jonathan Wolff and Jason Morgenstern came through with an 8-4 victory at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point. Jon Wolff tore through two sets with Dominic Hodgson, taking down the Wolfpacker 6-1, 6-2 to push the Deacons in front 2-0. Conner Sherwood got his first career dual match appearance, playing at No. 5, but fell 6-2, 6-1 to Rafael Paez. Steven Forman topped Jaimie Pulgar 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, marking his fifth win over a nationally ranked opponent in the 2009-10 season. Iain Atkinson clinched the Wake Forest victory at No. 3 with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Rob Lowe. The Demon Deacons will return to action this Saturday to host Georgia Tech at 1 p.m. Doubles
