College Park, Md. - Senior All-American Todd Paul captured his 100th career singles victory as the seventh-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team began its six-match road swing with a decisive 6-1 victory at 51st-ranked Maryland on Friday in College Park.

The Deacons got off to a rocky start by dropping the doubles point. Wake Forest squandered three match points that would have given the Deacs an early lead. Instead, the Terps rallied to capture the doubles point.

The Deacons took out their frustrations on Maryland in singles by sweeping all six matches. Four Wake Forest players rolled to straight set victories including Paul, Cory Parr, Andrew Hamar and Jason Morgenstern.

Freshman Steven Forman played his first-ever match at number three and he responded with a three-set win. Classmate Andrew Brasseaux saw his first ACC singles action and rallied for a three-set victory at number six.

Paul's 100 wins are good for third place in Wake Forest history. His next win will tie David Loewenthal (2001-04) for second place. David Bere (2000-03) holds the program record with 106.

The Deacons return to action on Saturday with a double-header in Providence, R.I., beginning with Boston College at 10:00 a.m. and Brown at 5:00 p.m.
