Deacons Lose Heartbreaker At #10 Miami, 5-2

Coral Gables, FL - The 26th-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team sent three singles matches into a third set, but fell 5-2 at 10th-ranked Miami on Friday afternoon in Coral Gables, Fla. Wake Forest (14-8, 6-4 ACC) got off on the right foot by capturing the doubles point. At number three, Mariusz Adamski and Cory Parr rolled past Josh Cohen and Eric Hechtman, 8-5. At number two, Brett Ross and Charles Sartor clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 win. The momentum carried over into singles where Liron Strauss, Adamski and Ross all won their first sets. But only Strauss was able to hold on, winning at number six, 7-5, 6-4, over John Hoyes. At number four, Tim Krebs rallied to beat Ross, 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (5). At number five, Hechtman came back to beat Adamski, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Cory Parr also forced a third set at number three singles, but eventually losing to 72nd-ranked Josh Cohen, 6-1, 1-6, 7-5. At number one and number two, Todd Paul and Andrew Hamar fell in straight sets. Paul's defeat came at the hands of fifth-ranked Luigi D'Agord, 6-4, 6-3. The Deacons complete their regular season schedule on Sunday at Florida State at 1:00 p.m. Next week, Wake Forest travels to the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C.
