Prabhakar Wins Championship at WFU Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Senior Amogh Prabhakar claimed the first singles title of his career, beating Duke's No. 111 Fred Saba to win the A1 Singles flight as the Wake Forest men's tennis team wrapped up play at the Wake Forest Fall Invitational.
Prabhakar took down Saba 6-4, 6-4 in the championship match to notch his second ranked victory in as many days after he had defeated No. 55 Rafael Aita of UNCW in the semifinals yesterday for the highest-ranked win of his career.
Also victorious on the day for the Demon Deacons were Anthony Delcore, who won the A1 Singles consolation by defeating Elon's Robert Lindgren 6-0, 6-1, and Adam Lee, who took down Old Dominion's Carlos Lopez 6-1, 6-4 to take home third place in the A2 Singles flight.
In doubles, Lee and Danny Kreyman beat Duke's Saba and Dan McCall 8-4 to post a third-place finish in the A Doubles draw, and Sam Bloom and Conner Sherwood defeated Dylan Segur and Guillem Secanel from Liberty in a C Doubles match.
Wake Forest players came up short in three other finals Sunday as No. 94 Kreyman fell to No. 68 Nelson Vick of North Carolina in the A2 Singles final, Bloom dropped the B Singles final to Kosta Blank and No. 17 David Hopkins and Prabhakar came up just short in a 9-7 loss to Elon's Stefan Fortmann and Cameron Silverman in the A Doubles final.
The Demon Deacons will continue fall tournament play Thursday when they open at the ITA Carolina Regional at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C. The tournament serves as the championship for players from schools in North Carolina and South Carolina and is also the qualifier for the ITA National Indoor Championships.
