Deacons Sweep Doubles at USTA/ITA Regional

CARY, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's tennis team won all three of its doubles matches on the second day of the USTA/ITA Carolina Regional Championships at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.

Danny Kreyman and Adam Lee took down ECU's John Schmitt and Mario Martinez 8-4, Anthony Delcore and Conner Sherwood defeated Carson Greve and Andrew McKinnon 8-4, and Sam Bloom and Jon Ho beat Elon's Chris Geaslen and Dan Sablik 8-5.

All three teams, along the Demon Deacons' third-seeded duo of David Hopkins and Amogh Prabhakar that received a first-round bye, will continue action tomorrow in the round of 32.

Three Deacons also earned singles wins Friday.

In the round of 32 of the singles main draw, Lee beat NC State's Rafael Paez 6-4, 6-2 and Kreyman cruised past Appalachian State's Zack Bost 6-1, 6-2. Both players came up short in the next round though, with Kreyman falling to the nation's top-ranked player Henrique Cunha of Duke and Lee going out to Cameron Silverman of Elon.

In consolation play, Bloom beat Tamina Klenka of North Carolina Central 6-2, 6-2 before winning a tight 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (3) match against Alon Fairman from College of Charleston. Bloom will play in the consolation quarterfinals tomorrow.
