March 24, 2008

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 29 Wake Forest men's tennis team will host Atlantic Coast Conference rival Duke at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Demon Deacon fans are invited to a pre-match cookout at 2:30 and will have the opportunity to get autographs from the team following the matchup.

In addition to the complimentary edible treats, several prizes will be raffled off, including a ticket to the upcoming Davis Cup Quarterfinal, featuring the USA vs. France, scheduled for April 11-13 at the LJVM Coliseum.

The Wake Forest squad recently completed a perfect 3-0 weekend, defeating ACC opponents Maryland and Boston College, along with local rival Elon. The Demon Deacons are now 12-6 overall and 3-1 in conference contests.

The Blue Devils are 5-8 for 2008 and 2-1 in the ACC. Duke split matches over the weekend, posting a 5-2 upset over No. 20 Miami but dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 7 Florida State. Despite a 66th overall rank, the Devils boast two singles competitors in the ITA's top 60, including No. 51 David Goulet and No. 57 Reid Carleton.

The Demon Deacons will play their final home matches this weekend as they host Clemson on Friday at 5 p.m., followed by Georgia Tech on Sunday at 12 p.m. The final four contests on the regular season slate are ACC road matches against Florida State, Miami, Virginia and Virginia Tech. The conference tournament is set for April 17-20 in Orlando, Fla.
