ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - Wake Forest junior Jaya Billa capped off a strong month on the ITA Summer Circuit by winning the Sonoma State circuit event last weekend.

Billa played in all four of the events on the Northern California circuit, notching one first-place finish, two second-place finishes and one third-place finish in singles, in addition to winning three doubles championships with UCLA-signee Mackenzie MacDonald.

To take the title at Sonoma State, Billa took down University of Redlands' Nicolas Cummins 5-7, 6-3, (10-7) in the final. He had previously defeated Sonoma State's Phillip Holbrook and Alexander Hwang, a high school player.

The ITA Summer Circuit provides college (and junior and alumni) players the opportunity to compete in organized events virtually year round. Although the primary focus of the circuit is to provide incoming freshmen and collegiate players the chance to compete in the summer months, for NCAA compliance purposes, the events within the ITA Summer Circuit are categorized as "open"; therefore anyone is eligible to compete in these events as long as he/she is a current ITA member.

The ITA Summer Circuit is currently made up of nine regional circuits (Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, Central, Mountain, Texas, Northern California and Southern California) consisting of four consecutive open tournaments played during the month of July, leading up to the USTA/ITA National Summer Championships in Bloomington, Indiana in August.
