Sept. 23, 2010
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's tennis team will travel to Charlottesville, Va. this weekend to compete in the UVA Ranked Plus One Invitational in its third straight week of fall tournament play.
The Deacons will send their top six players to what is expected to be a highly competitive tournament - No. 68 Iain Atkinson, No. 36 Tripper Carleton, David Hopkins, Zach Leslie, Danny Kreyman and No. 81 Jonathan Wolff.
Wake Forest is fresh off successful trips to two tournaments last weekend when part of the team traveled to the OFCC Fighting Illini Invitational in Chicago and the rest competed in the Duke Fab Four Tournament in Durham, N.C.
Kreyman has had the most success of any Demon Deacon this fall, posting a 6-2 singles record including a win last weekend against ETSU's No. 93 Grega Teraz. Wolff notched wins against ranked opponents in Chicago, downing Notre Dame's No. 37 Casey Watt and Illinois' No. 62 Abe Souza.
Following this weekend's action, the Demon Deacons will send representatives to the D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships, one of the three individual collegiate national championship events. Carleton has been accepted directly into the singles main draw, while Atkinson and Wolff will enter at the qualifying round. The doubles team of Atkinson and Wolff will start play in the qualifying doubles draw. The tournament will be held in Tulsa, Okla. from Oct. 2-10.
