INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- The duo of Petros Chrysochos and Skander Mansouri had a perfect day Wednesday (Nov. 1) as the Demon Deacons began play at the ITA National Fall Championships.

In singles play, Chrysochos earned the No. 3 seed in the field by virtue of his quarterfinalist performance at the ITA All-American Championship earlier this fall. The third-ranked player in the country began his tournament run with a straight sets victory over Kiranpal Pannu of Division II Columbus State, who earned an automatic berth as the ITA Oracle Cup Division II champion.

After taking the opening set, 6-0, Chrysochos closed out a 6-4 decision in the second set. In the Round of 32, Chrysochos will face Benjamin Hannestad of Arizona State.

Mansouri, ranked 10th in the country, is the No. 4 seed in the field after receiving an At-Large selection. In his opening match of the tournament, Mansouri drew 25th-ranked Daniel Valent of Vanderbilt. The senior also won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, to set up a second-round match against Alex Knaff of Florida State.

The duo then teamed up in doubles play, where they earned an At-Large berth, and faced Akram El Sallaly and Bernando Oliveira of Pacific in the Round of 32. After being pushed to a 6-4 victory in the opening set, the Demon Deacon tandem closed out the match with a 6-2 victory in the second set. They will face the 26th-ranked team of Victor Pham and Jackie Tang of Columbia, who defeated the No. 6 seed and 31st-ranked doubles team from Virginia Tech.

Christian Seraphim and Julian Zlobinsky also appeared in the doubles draw after winning the Carolina Region doubles title. In their opening round match, they faced top-seeded and fifth-ranked Alfred Perez and Johannes Inglidsen. After dropping the opening set, 6-3, Seraphim and Zlobinsky forced a tiebreaker in the second set. Their run came to an end with a 7-2 defeat in the tiebreaker.
