BLACKSBURG, Va. - Senior Michael Bingham's second place finish in the 200-meter dash led the Wake Forest track & field team on the second day of the Hokie Invitational in Rector Fieldhouse on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Bingham, competing in his only event of the meet, ran a solid 21.51 from an inside lane on the banked 200-meter track to win his heat and take second overall. Bingham only trailed Clemson standout Jacoby Ford, who crossed the line in a time of 21.38.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team also won for the second straight week, this time in a time of 3:14.20. The team of Brent LaRue, Allan Lunkenheimer, Phillip Warsaw and Jon Reid crossed the line nearly two seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

For the second straight week, junior Thomas Sensing topped his personal indoor best in the shot put with a toss of 51-11.00 to finish fifth overall. Last week, the Franklin, Tenn., native turned in a mark 50-7.50 to finish sixth.

In the men's 400-meter dash, Reid ran a strong 47.77 to take third while Lunkenheimer also turned in a time of 50.29 in the event.

On the women's side, junior Nicole Castronuova sprinted to a time of 56.24 to finish sixth in the 400-meter dash. Her time was almost a second lower than her previous personal-best.

Also competing in the 400-meter dash was redshirt senior Melissa Council. She is out of eligibility for this indoor season but she competed unattached and ran a stellar 56.01 to finish third in the event.

Freshman Molly Binder knocked over a second off her 800-meter run season-best time from last week to finish ninth in the event with a time of 2:17.06.

Fellow freshman Erin Brooks recorded a mark of 18-05.00 in the long jump, which was nearly four inches longer than her previous personal-best of 18-01.50, which she set last week at the Virginia Tech Invitational.

The majority of the Wake Forest team will return to action next weekend at the Carolina Classic on January 24 in Chapel Hill, N.C., while certain members will head to Lynchburg, Va., for the Liberty On Track Combined Events next Friday and Saturday.
