BLACKSBURG, Va. - Junior Michael Cyphers broke his previous school record in the indoor men's pole vault as the Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up competition on the final day at the Hokie Invitational on Saturday.

The junior from Lebananon, N.H., cleared a record setting and personal best height of 5.07m (16-7.5), which just passed the previous record of 5.05m (16-6.75) that he set at the 2014 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships. He becomes the second athlete to set a school record this weekend as Simon Holden set the men's indoor 1000m record with a time of 2:25.09 on Friday.

In addition to Cyphers for the men, Max Adams had a strong showing, setting a PR of 16.09m (52-9.25) in the shot put for an eighth place finish. Bobby Jacowleff competed in his first 400m race setting a PR of 53.31 and Alex Krall also set an indoor PR in the long jump with a distance of 6.06m (19-10.5).

Leading the way for the women, Nyki Caldwell earned a first-place finish in the women's high jump clearing 1.77m (5-9.5), just short of her indoor PR of 1.79m. In addition to Caldwell, Jordan Banks set a new PR in the 200m dash crossing the finish line in 26.77 seconds.

The Deacons will look to continue their strong performances as they return to Winston-Salem next weekend to take part in the Hilton Garden Invitational on January 30 and 31.
