WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Senior Melissa Council placed first in the 400m dash on the first day of the Wake Forest Open, clocking a time of 55.37.

Four Demon Deacons set personal bests, including Merry Placer in the 800m run with a 2:14.98 mark, Molly Kennedy in the 800m run, Michelle Lloyd in the 100m hurdles (14.55) and Matt Owen in the 800m run with a 1:55.24 finish.

Competition will begin on Saturday with the men's pole vault event at 9:30 a.m. Running events will begin at noon with the 100/110m hurdle finals and wrap up at 5:40 with the 1600m relay.
