Lunkenheimer Paces Deacs on Opening Day of Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. - Sophomore Sean Lunkenheimer finished seventh overall in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time of 53.56 seconds to lead the Deacs Friday afternoon on the opening day of the Raleigh Relays at N.C. State's Paul Derr Track.

Competition will resume Saturday morning, with track events starting at 9:45 a.m. and field events beginning at 10 a.m. The Deacs will have squads in a number of the relay events, including the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and 4x800-meter relays.

Below is an event-by-event breakdown of all the action from Day One of the Raleigh Relays.

400-meter Hurdles
A trio of Deacons competed in the 400-meter hurdles, with sophomore Sean Lunkenheimer leading the way in a personal-best time of 53.56 to place 7th overall. His previous top time in the event was 54.29 seconds.

Freshman Malcolm Nunley finished in 27th overall with a time of 55.55, and Justin Bookheimer was close behind in 55.92 to take 31st place.

5,000-meter Run
Sophomore Garret Drogosch finished ninth in the event (14:34.80), while Devin Huizenga placed 17th (14:51.21).

Long Jump
Alex Hill was the lone Deacon in the long jump, and he finished tied for seventh with a mark of 20-06.25 (6.25 meters).

Discus Throw
Junior Michael Wooten turned in a mark of 131-1 (41.80 meters) to finish in 23rd place.
