PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Michelle Loyd placed first among female collegiate competitors in the 400m hurdles on Thursday at the Penn Relays with a 58.95 finish. The Demon Deacons will continue competition Philadelphia through the weekend.

Alex Gove also had a top mark in the 400m hurdles, running a season best time of 1:01.08 taking 11th place overall.

In the 5000m event, Merry Placer posted a 17:18.90, followed by Caitlin Chrisman with a 17:34.16 finish and Marley Burns with a 17:41.32 mark.

Jill Ahrens placed second in the pole vault with a 12-5.25 performance, her second best mark of the season. Carly Mauch took second place in the javelin throw with a 140-1.

Phillip Warsaw opened Friday morning competition with a 54.88 finish in the collegiate men's 400m hurdle event.

Anna Nosenko will wrap up individual competition for the Demon Deacons with the mile run on Saturday. In the relay events set to begin Friday evening and continue through Saturday, Nicole Castronuova, Alex Gove, Molly Kennedy and Michelle Loyd will represent the women's side, while Nicholas Lepley, Jon Reid, Kerry Major and Allan Lunkenheimer will run for the men's side.
